    • My writings are far and fewer between these days. At least I've started working on refining what I post.

    Never Knights

    We were not born noble
    Never considered high society
We have fought our entire lives
To disprove the gaze cast from your eyes

We bleed a river from broken flesh
And let scars remain that survival left
Proud we are of from where we come
And to no injustice will we be numb

Hell itself could not make us fear
When a battle is won we never cheer
    Given hope and determined strength
We pay the cost at whatever length

    Shielded hearts armed with wits
A sword in hand we hate to grip
We fight on for life through day and night
Hearts of lions but never knights

Clever twist on a theme. I have enjoyed reading your poems this one in particular. You certainly have a gifted talent. Well done!

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
