    Love's Shadows

As I walk through the shadows I have no fear
The light that holds me draws me near
Keeps me safe and far from harm
I need no reason to alarm

The winter cold has left no sign
    Giving way to realign
The months go on and still I'm found
To the seasons I am bound

    Spring passes with no regret
that love is not what I have yet
    Only drifters do I see
That have to come and call on me

I hold too close to summer and fall
For there I know I could lose it all
The time when you and I shall meet
In his graces we will greet

So though I glance and see no gain
I know I love not in vain
For in this shadow I hold some peace
That soon enough all will cease

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
