    Why we Play Golf!

    "A Shot to Remember"

Off to the golf course I go
with my little brother in tow
    meet some friends we know
this years swing I proudly show

    Lots of kidding and chiding
    but none with malice
    when putts come up short
    they'll say "Nice try Alice"

We all partake in this innocent fun
it's give and take for everyone
needling and ribbing the errant stroke
a misplaced swing receives a well placed poke

In competative mode with compatible gathering
better to laugh when your swing is unraveling
another weak putt... lips... utter a curse
to bad they say "the club hit your purse"

All this long day thus such we toiled
not to give way to a "Good walk Spoiled"
By the end of the day good mischief a play
all 18 we did play and play without dismay

Revealing the score some laughter did smother
no birdies, few bogey's and oh so many 'others'

    But Spirits remain high
    our count held no lie
to parry a score or negotiate a par
the 19th hole is a fully stocked bar

    And so shall we return
    few lessons if learned
The same jovial crew not less one member
in total pursuit of the "shot to remember"

    Inspired by ~Sir Winston Churchill
"A diabolical game played with instruments
    ill suited for it's purpose"

Post #2You wrote5 minutes ago Epilog With apologies to the feminine clan Forgive these insults as said by man I just realized my masculine thrust resulting dilemma but you do I trust! What doth one gal say to another? what does she say? what does she retort? when your lagging putt doth come up short?

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
