You & I

You & I

I asked for a hand
I got you to hold.
I asked for a shoulder
I got you closer.
I asked for a friend
And I got someone to love.

In such short time
I fell in love with someone
someone who already loved
many times before.

Why should I think
you could love me more
more than those that came and went
more than all the time we spent?

You asked for forgivness
and I gave you that
You asked for my love
and that never faded
You asked for me always
to be there through thick and thin.
But I should've known
you'd only kick me in the shin.

Now I'm the one
who shall ask for forgivness
for you to forgive me
for whatever wrong I've done
the forgivness for you being the one.

This poem flows much better. I like it more for that and like the use of the question in the middle.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
