Poem Commentary

This was another poem I wrote for my donor.

Guardian Angel

You were sent from the heavens up above
Delivered on the wings of gods messenger dove
To give me my wings, and ease my pain
You are the cool misty rain

A breath of fresh air, the dew on the morning grass
For his love, God made you to last
He gave you your struggles to overcome
For to save me you have surcome

To help me in my darkest hour
Through him, is where you get life's power
So stay strong and keep love in your heart
I know we all will go away and depart

To soar once again in the skies
Where we will reunite and never cry
To reunite with our father
And our life's pain to us will never bother

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
