I Can't Wait To Read The Story of My Life

I Can't Wait To Read The Story Of My Life
                               by brianlion
If I could write the story of my life
Would it would be an epic saga or a long story?
I guess that it just all depends.

If I was reading my own autobiography,
I would start by reading the back of the book.
Because I just can't wait to see how it ends.

In my book, I would be the hero of my book.
Riding a white horse through the mist.
A pale ghost rider that you could just barely see.

Because sometimes I am a ghost.
Trying to fool people, or just disappear.
But they always see right through me.

Sometimes I am a movie actor
    Frustrated by a lousy script.
Trying to read between the lines.

When you reach the part of the book
Where I take a wrong turn
That's where I refused to read the signs.

If you could read my book
It would't be a cheap paperback novel.
It would be a hardback sitting dusty on a library shelf.

I want you to read my book in bed.
Not being able to put it down.
As you learn about me, you learn more about yourself.

I want to walk out of the final chapter
Lightening flashing but my head held high.
As the clouds above me swirl.

It would be different than in real life.
    Because in this new ending,
    I always get the girl.

Because sometimes I am a ghost.
But sometimes I am a ghost writer.
Trying desperately to write a happy ending

In my book, words jump off the pages.
I wonder, am I writing words of hope and love.
What are the messages that I am sending?

In the story of my life,
My wife is the leader of the leading ladies.
Many were beautiful and sweet , but none were her equal.

But when my Book of Life is done
I am not interested in writing a best seller.
I am just hoping I get to write a sequel.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
