Lost innocence

Lost innocence

The music played and I danced and swayed
around and around I went,
the music stopped and I did drop
and there my spirit bent.

Love gone mad, oh so scantly clad
in rainbows of the sky,
making merry with loves sweet cherry
Oh someone tell me why....

The music starts to play again
and my twirling stance returns,
in my soul loves got to grow
for in my heart it yearns....

Oh, Poetry, you're breaking my heart with these poems. Even if I didn't know and care about you, these poems I have been reading, I would find them heart-breaking. // The overwhelming power of this poem is in the tone you evoke. There is so much pain of loss, so much of a sense of futile struggle--oh, Poetry, I'm so sorry you feel this way! // I have bad moments. Too many bad moments. I hope that you are like me, and that when you are writing a poem of grief and sorrow and fear, it doesn't mean those are the dominant states of mind and heart in your live. // I hope you value your life, and feel the wonder and beauty and magic and miracle of life, every time you wake up to the world. I hope that for you, I wish it with all my heart, and I pary God give you that kind of love of life, that can stay bright and strong, even in the middle of misery, even in the midst of great loss, even in pain. // This poem is good, powerful, well-written, and way past a 10. // I love you, Poetry. // Bye now. // --Michael LP, Mr. Poet

Nicely written pg. I loved the flow. It kinda sounds like you're describing the ballet girl dancing in a windup jewelry box.

First off,, the picture is great the poise of a stagnant dancer. the poem very musical played tones with words I thought the end was very well written.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
