Poem Commentary

this came from somewhere.....there is really nothing else to say

Lust

lust will fill and overflow like seeds in flight
the wind will carry you
and no storm or dark light
will ever shadow brighter

the eagles all migrate to the headwaters
but intensity is divided in the middle of the night
as wings of fire splash and succumb
into fountains of love pouring from above

angelic voices calling soldiers home
dropping like roses past their fullest bloom
parades of unfortunate starry-eyed youths
all singing together beneath the blessing of the moon

entwined in souls as small as raccoons
deep in the delta and as wide as lagoons
dwelling and delving and tunnelling and funnelling
breathing in the spores of effortless summoning

jackdaws and cyclones circling
pulling trees by the roots
and branching into memories
of impossible pursuits

bodies burgeoning, turgid and aware
spouting romantic folly into the still night air
passing each other and barely aware
that to touch skin is sublime but to be touched is rare

overtly discrete and welling beneath our feet
like a wave that never breaks but climbs over the shore
relentlessly threading and impossible to ignore
curling our toes, we can't help but explore

all nations on time for the end of the world
ejaculating into caverns of the void, we swarm
over ruins and rampant with blood in our eyes
as animals we clash and as humans we die

I love your choice of words and how they play well with each other. The flow is fun but yet intense, and I love how it lures you in to read more and want more...thanks for the invite. Great write!

I enjoyed this poem! I was curious about the color of the font, why there was two different colors? Is it because the stanzas in black are darker than than the ones in purple?

lol...i wrote the first three stanzas in chat then cut and pasted them into the adding a new poem section, and i couldnt figure out how to make the rest of the poem purple after that as i was finishing it....long story short, ended up being two colors

Great write, I enjoyed the read. The line that stood out to me the most was 'that to touch skin is sublime but to be touched is rare.' I also liked the last line quite a bit, 'as animals we clash and as humans we die.' I thought of it as you driving the point home what makes humans more than just an animal, our emotions. 10 from me Amad. Peace and Love, Spence

thank you spence, you called this one, that last line pretty much summed up the poem

once the animalistic fury subsides ... we are still only human... very nicely written Amad! It read like a battle between knowing and feeling... i dig it man. :-) brilliant as usual.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
