    Prejudice

Let me tell you where prejudice came from

Someone whose heart was cold and numb

Because you can take a bunch of kids

No matter the color of their skin

Put them in a sand box

And watch them play to no end

But it takes someone evil to come in and ruin their day

By putting poison in their mind

    Saying with their kind

You are not allowed to play

All of a sudden that changes the child’s mind state

Because he grows up and doesn’t know why he is full of hate

So he searches the depths of his soul

Wondering why his hate for others is out of control

So he ask his father, why am I like this

His father says son sit down while I reminisce

It all started from my parents you see

They said there is no one better than me

So I passed what I thought was true

     down to you

I thought I made you better, but I only made you worse

    Please forgive me

Now son you must stop this generational curse

I think you have hit the nail on the head, it is passed from one generation to the next. Very well written children don't know color or race ,but adults can make them grow up to hate. It is sad, but true what us parents can do. Wondering writing.

Wow.. that's really powerful and insightful. It's so true too. Little kids don't see 'black', 'white', 'brown', or purple! It's too bad we can't be more like innocent little children!

that is painful for anyone to do that to a child. i dont care when they were raised 100 years ago to today

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
