Get Real

Get Real

How nice to have a sunny sky
And summer all the time,
(space)
How nice to have no bumps or hills
That we will have to climb,
(space)
How nice to only have to ford
A gentle, quiet stream,
(space)
How nice to always beat the game,
Be on the winning team,
(space)
How nice to have a guarantee
Of friends, success and smiles,
(space)
But that won't make us strong enough
To get through all these miles.
(space)
The promises that are enough
Are strength to win the race,
(Space)
A guide when we have lost our way,
And mercy, love, and grace.

I like the title and how you moved into the message in the first few verses; sans spaces, but I'm not sure the last four lines say enough to be needed in closing this piece... A good write though..

Okay, that one I'll think about. I wanted the ending to show that it isn't always easy, but we have help when we really need it. Maybe I can find a different way to put it, or maybe, as you said, it is complete without the last lines. I'll put time into thinking about it.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.

Plato (BC 427-BC 347) Greek philosopher.
