    Poem Commentary

I made comments on several poems today when I entered the site for the first time.  I thought it was only fair to put one up so y'all can get even.  This poem is about a cat I owned close to 15 years ago.  I still remember her hiding in the bushes trying to catch some little wild thing.

    Teasel

    exhaling subtle choruses
    of perfumes
    the knit and purl blooms

    of lavender lilacs.
    iridescent eyes,
    bright ochreous gems

    my cat, Teasel, hidden
    in the rib cage
    of the bush.

    the lilacs and Irish roses
    punctuate the green drapes
    of the cedars bordering

    the property in the background,
    yet it's the eyes
    like headlights at night
    that catch my attention.

A very subtle little piece reflecting how sometimes, through all the background colors and sights our eyes are taking in in a given moment, that one fleeting glance, we briefly capture the one thing that contrasts it all... Very nice write...

Oh, I love your comment. I wasn't thinking about it in just that way, but you are so tight. My cat's eyes were like beams of light as she tried to be unseen. Thank you again.

What a nice comment. Thank you so much. I am a nature lover through and through. If God made it for us to enjoy, I enjoy as much as I can with proper balance (I hope). Thank you again. linlee

As for roses I see them all, that is true, but the way you put this is so cool in that it does not have to be for t, as you said but for all lovers of something lost,,stay safe and walk good,,

Thank you for taking the time to read my poem and comment on it. I really appreciate it. And I'll work on staying safe, and you suggest, and on walking good. It was a nice thing to say! linlee

Sounds as though you could always see her coming. I've never seen an irish rose though, how different are they from those of the American rose society?

Irish roses grow on much taller bushes than other roses, and they are much simpler than, say rosa rugosa, beach rose, but they are beautiful and colorful large polka dots on a lush green background of foliage. Their simplicity is their charm. The domestic rose is an exquisitely romantic handful of exotic, colorful bloom. Maybe you can Google it to see one. I think all flowers are great, especially wild flowers. I'm glad that I could share something new with you in mentioning the Irish roses. Have a great week! linlee
