    Poem Commentary

just a memory from the past.

    New Puppies

    doldrum dog, effort drugged
    from earthquaking deliveries
    afterbirth nourished,yet
    languishes, pushed up against
the wall by seven battering ram sucklers,
    irrepressible, blind mole-dogs

I was actually worried about putting this one up. It's not negative, but it's not my usual pretty words, either. However, it is a large part of my upbringing because we raised boxer dogs when I was growing up. I couldn't not write it eventually, small as it is. Thank you for reading so much of my work.

Out of the "battering ram" of new puppies. Interesting how nature does all this. Good write.............

Just notice low ratings. I don't understand this. This to me is poetry. Not great but good. I will send you a private message.

Thank you for saying so, but is there something you didn't like, too? I notice that this poem is rated a 5. Someone(s) doesn't much like it. If there are things that could make it better, please don't be afraid to say what that is. I thrive on constructive criticism because I want to write better. Let me know what could make this better. linlee

Say, gkentonsmith, do you think you could take a minute or two and read my poem "Three Sides of Eternity" if you haven't already? It's a difficult style for me and I worked a lot on it. Now I need some feedback. Thank you ever so much if you can. And I thank you for your nice comment on this one, too.

At last, a poem not about I, me, my; a poem not about how I feel, & what I want, & who I am. A poem with real poetry in it! Thank you.

Since you made two comments, I decided to answer after the second one. I am wondering if you rated this one. Your comment is very nice, yet this poem has a rating of 5. If you think there are things that I could do with this poem to make it stronger or more moving, don't spare me. I take my writing seriously enough to want truthful feedback. This one isn't my usual pretty nature stuff, but we raised pedigree boxer dogs when I was growing up, and this was a common enough sight back then. I decided to write it, as short as it is. I have another one that praises dogs, and another one about my love for puppies, kittens, and baby squirrels. So, if you have criticism, lay it on me. linlee
