    Poem Commentary

An apology to someone very important.

    Hearing Mistakes

    Making mistakes like usual.
Trying to fix them but its not working.
It's like he can't hear me.
It feels like my apologies mean nothing.
I don't know what to do.
Don't know what else to say.
    Feeling so lonely.
    Feeling so lost.
He won't look at me, He won't say anything.
    Does he forgive me?
Or are my words just noise?
    I've made a mistake.
    I've said something hurtful.
I wish I could take it back.
I wish he didn't hear it.
I'm trying to apologize but I'm not sure he can hear me.
    I made a mistake.
    A mistake he heard.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
