Looming Hunger

Poem Commentary

Seeing people for what they really are.

Looming Hunger

Feeding off the anger of others.
The sadness that looms over them.
They cringe at the sight of my shadow stalking behind them.
The fiery look in my eyes that burns into their souls.
The taste of their tears that rolls down their cheeks.
As I stalk them in the night, I see their true nature.
See the misery they cause others.
I notice the sad disposition they carry is fake.
Nothing more than a cloak for their prey.
But tonight your heart and your happiness, Will become my feast.
A feast that will make this looming hunger subside.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
