Poem Commentary

My ecologies to every ethnic group or fishing athletes who might take offence at this humorous abrasion.

Here Fishy

A Vegge Day
I watch the screen
and drink coffee;
**************

A fishing show;
Men of Bass
how wonderful

Talk is small
water's wet
There she goes!

Jumpy jump;
'smiles a laugh
gets a net

Thumbs it's mouth
twists it back
I'm upset

Laughing still
'thinks it's great
what an ass

Taunts his friend
gets his lure
throws it back

(It's a bass)

Muskelunge
both agree
is the goal

Cut to break...
"kill your dear
with a bow!"

Up a tree
in a chair
branch on head

Perfect shot
through the heart
make him dead

Flash  a smirk
 laundry's done
click it off

Mind runs on
picture him
in a ring

Raging bull
Mexico
here's the thing

Cheering crowd
stands his ground
eye to eye

Just one chance
makes a wish
wings to fly.

I get surprised myself most of the time since I let my fingers do the thinking.

I got here once before, then got distracted by BessFrom Kenton's wit and smile. You deserved better than my ADD shift to her sight w/o a comment here. Wonderfully brief and ultimately a satisfying piece of writing.

Thanks for your input again Harver.

Good stuff. (The scary thing is those fishing shows actually have a credit for "writer").

YOU MEAN IT'S ALL PHONY? Like wrestling? They don't act like that in real life then. I respect them more now, since I'm a fledgling at that now. Thanx Bess

An addendum to your comment Bess; I was talking to the painter while at my landscaping job up north. He told he that one day a famous Candian fisher-show guy came up to his neck of the woods to film an episode for TV. He told me how the prop men would dip into a fresh barrel of pickerel from the oil drum and stick um on the lines. They brought this up with them. Could anyone maintain the vicarious thrill of catching a fish if that were to be public knowledge? It's a head shaker.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
