Comfort

Whenever things get hectic
And I can’t find time to spare,
I take a breath and just relax
Because I know you’re there.

If I am tired and ill at rest,
And don’t think I can make it through,
I know that I can find some peace
By drawing close to you.

When illness strikes and things look dim
I stop and say a prayer,
Knowing things will be OK
Because you’re always there.

You wrap your arms around me
An touch me on my face,
And tell me “Child it will be all right.
I’ve blessed you with my grace.”

I’ve overcome so many things
That have caused me pain and strife.
The reason that I’ve overcome?
I’ve got you in my life.

As Thanksgiving Day approaches,
It gives me joy to start
To give you praise and thank you
From the bottom of my heart.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
