    Your Treasure Chest

    YOUR HEART IS JUST  A TREASURE CHEST
    OF THINGS THAT YOU SHOULD KEEP.
    FOR INSTANCE , ALL THE DREAMS I HAVE
    WHEN I AM FAST ASLEEP.


    A TREASURE CHEST THAT HAS NO ROOM
    FOR TEARS THAT I HAVE CRIED
    EACH TIME YOU KISSED MY TENDER LIPS
    AND WHISPERED “DEAR, GOODBYE!”


    A TREASURE CHEST THAT ONLY HOLDS
    THE MEMORIES SO SWEET----
    A FOND EMBRACE, A LOVING TOUCH,
    A STROLL DOWN LOVE ‘S OWN STREET.


    A  TREASURE CHEST OF EVERY KISS,
    NOT ONE OF MEMORIES- SAD,
    BUT ONE OF ONLY PLEASANT THOUGHTS
    THAT MAKE YOUR HEART FEEL GLAD.


    SO KEEP YOUR HEART WIDE OPEN
    AND, THEN YOU WILL BE BLESSED
    WITH LOVE, AND ONLY PLEASANT THOUGHTS
    TO FILL YOUR TREASURE CHEST.

    I am so glad that someone can draw meaning from my poems. They are straight from my heart.

    Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
