Mid-Nightmare

Mid-Nightmare

darkness reigns
down on the window panes
conceling what wonders in the night
creeping under the blankets wrapped
around me tight
leaving me waiting for
morn's first light.
my mind tries to wrap around
what awaits in the gloom
leaving me trapped in a
four-walled room
trying to get through to day
even though the sun won't rise
to stay
for a little while
i'll be okay.
