    Poem Commentary

    In response to the poem, "Free Will"

    In Two

    Night argues with the Day,
    The Sun grows envious
    Of the Stars, yet
    Both equally beautiful
    But so very far from
    My own understanding of
    How good and evil can
    Flow from one place yet
    They are two different things
    That fill one empty space...
    The power of choice versus
    The power to control

    Sometimes, I wonder,
    Which one would have
    Been better for my soul?

    Why love when love
    Can also cause pain?
    Why smile if your smile
    Can be someone's rainy day
    When no smiles appear?

    Why give me a choice?
    What if I choose not to
    Hear what you say?
    What If I decide to go 
    My own way, or something
    Inside takes ahold of me to
    The point where I am
    Completely blind-unable to
    See the dire consequences
    That are in front of me?

    Am I truly free?

    Two roads that lead
    To one ultimate destination-
    The Power to chose versus
    The Power to control...
    Yet I know nothing of my
    Own soul or what is best
    For me, so the power to
    Choose is a special gift
    That I must use wisely...
