    This poem is about me and my little sister Doris. We were not only sisters but the bestest friends. She will always live on in my heart.... I miss you Doris.... This one is for you, and the memory of your beautiful smiling face.... Our secrets live on forever!

     Memories of Your Smiling Face

    Take me back
    To a better place and time
    To those days when we
    Laughed uncontrollably
    Those days of black and white

    Sitting on the front lawn
    Sun shining in our eyes
    Trying to keep that perfect smile
    While daddy is taking
    Way too long to snap a photo

    Little sister, where would I be
    Without the memories of you and me
    What started out just an ordinary day?
    Ended up a special memory
    That now lives forever inside of me

    All those nights we lay in bed
    Talking about boyfriends
    Sharing secrets, giggling out loud
    Over all the things we did
    Pinky promises to never share

    There is happiness deep down
    In this heart of mine
    Memories of your smiling face
    A little sister, a best friend
    Our secrets forever sealed in love

    I can empathize with your memories of happter times with your sister. I hadt a sister buit she did not pass ion but to her different choices which took us on different paths. It is only in my later years that we are back to talking.

    The best we an do is cherish those we love, and let them know it while we can. This was a sweet sad little confection that has a pleasant after taste afterall. Sisters should be best friends, too.

    Companions—here and there forever in eternity. too much gathering to ever be lost in forever. You'll meet again in another world. The power of love reaches beyond the physical. Great poem the way you've captured the timeless within it. Yesterday like today, the moment as the present.
