    Poem Commentary

    I find so much peace walking in the woods and through the wetlands-today was different, and a bit of excitement:)

    Wetland CSI

     Exploring again
    taking care at every step
    a lone turtle sat

    Stop investigate
    that turtle is not moving
    all alone he died

    So, painted turtles
    live in the surrounding scene
    we must find some more

    We kept bushwacking
    searching all around the swamp
    sadly, more were found

    Two more dead spotted
    wonder why this happened here?
    what killed the turtles?

    Heard a splash down there
    three turtles sunning swam off
    we trudged on further

    More turtles spotted
    fled too fast for a photo
    This is Turtleville

    pondering the deathes
    What was the reason they died?
    predator or not

    no visible tracks
    all around the carcasses
    perhaps illness struck

    We may never know
    why these two turtles died
    It made us think though....

    Reminds me of a little turtle I recently rescued. We returned him to the creek he had wandered from (or was carried from?) and I still wonder about him from time to time. Lovely poem!

    Very clever use of your considerable poetic talents, earthly. I wouldn't have thought about writing about. Maybe I'll think of it next time......
