Poem Commentary

-A Heartbroken Kid-

A precious little girl, so fragile and sweet, told her mommy a secret she was warned to always keep.
Getting out of the bath, shaking and cold, she felt the heat of courage, so fierce and bold.
She said those first words, and caught Mommy's heart, by the strings the words pulled and ripped it apart.
She told a terrifying story, so devastating it was, of a person she trusted; a person she loved.
She was unthinkably violated, protected she wasn't, she thought this person loved her but its clear, she doesn't.
That line was crossed, that sacred one, that shouldn't be touched but sadly its been done.
In this tale she told, her eyes filled with tears, she exposed her soul and all of her fears.
What a horrific thing, this little girl went through, but bravery it took to tell, and courage, too.
A precious little girl, she still is, but with a new depth to her eyes, the depth of a heartbroken kid.

pain indeed to the beloved child, the seed. Tainted is this gesture, as it lies beautifully in your expression, momoftwins, do not let hate fill the heart, and may the heart be mended for the young one broken...truly a piece of pain wrapped in enthralling words

Amazing. Absolutely amazing way with words honey. I loved this poem. It happens all too often. More often than we want to think or consider but it is still a very touching poem

Too violate one of God's precious little ones is the most heinous of crimes. What a terrible thing to have happen to your little one. My own daughter was molested by her step-father, who eventually went to jail for other crimes against humanity. It is a sad situation to live through. I'm sorry you had to. With lots of love and therapy the depth to the eyes of a heartbroken kid can be healed to a degree. Though past experieince tells me that the memory linger so. I too was molested, but when I was older as a teenager. The depression I fell into was like a deep, dark hole. So I can relate to wha tyou have been through.

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
