-One single rose-
On their very first date he showed up holding one single rose.
When he proposed to her he did it with a ring and one single rose.
After the birth of their first child he handed her one single rose.
The day he deployed with the Military he gave her one single rose.
The day his coffin was flown home, she was there...
She stood as still as she wished time would have.
They unloaded him from the plane there was a flag and
one single rose on his coffin.
Everyday she visits his grave site and leaves him one single rose to show her love.
On the one year anniversary of his passing she visits him like always;
But this time is different...
She places one single rose by his headstone,
then pulls a gun out of her purse.
She puts it to her temple and pulls the trigger...
It seems like time stands still again for a brief moment before her body drops.
And in that moment from her hand drops
one single rose.
