-Just The Three of Us-
Mother's view:
The three of us; So close we're like a set of conjoined triplets.
We fight together, grow together and stay together.
We've even gone through Hell together...
It broke my heart to tell them we had to go.
The tears on my face were hard not to show.
They went upstairs to say goodbye to their dad;
I told them we did not have the time.
They said they wanted to kiss Daddy's cheek;
I said for now you'll have to settle for mine.
I rushed them to the truck and then we sped away;
Hoping he wouldn't wake up and see we'd gone astray.
From living in a beautiful house, with a lawn to play;
To a sleeping in our truck, every single day.
Eating cold food straight out of a can;
Sleeping cuddled up, to keep them as warm as I can.
None of this matters, because we are all safe, and now its just the three of us.
Children's view:
We love our mommy, more than anyone else.
Shes holds us when we cry, and she cleans our house.
Mommy is usually happy, but right now she seems sad;
She said we have to leave and don't get to say bye to dad.
She made us run all the way to our big white truck;
And we whined because we didn't kiss daddy goodbye.
She jumped in her seat and drove really fast;
Tears are going to come, I can see them in her eyes.
Mommy said we're sleeping in our truck tonight;
But she told us that last night, too.
We're going to be very quiet for her;
She seems like shes in a sad mood.
We get to sleep cuddled up to mommy;
Which we never get to do.
We're pretty excited about that;
So we'll do what she asks us to do.
We're glad there's no more yelling or blood from mommy's face, we're safe now, we can feel it.
Now its just the three of us.
