As his hands are around my neck I see through my protruding eyes the man I might lose my life to...
In the heat of the moment he shows me all he can do with his fists; as he unzips his pants I know this is not true bliss...
While hes saying sorry and begging me not to leave, its hard to remember that I can stand up and leave;
That I CAN fight back...
As he sends another blow to my face I realize my power is not in my beauty; my power is in my voice...
He doesnt charish my worth, and no he doesnt love me; but I love myself and thats all that really matters...
I tell him anyone who puts their hands on a woman doesnt deserve to be called a man;
I tell myself, hurry, get out while you can...
I run like the wind and leave that awful place, with nothing but the clothes on my body
and the bruises on my face...
But Im free...
