-I am A Liar-

-I am A Liar-

I am a liar.
I sell my lies to anyone who will listen;
and I hope everyone will buy it.
I tell them complete lies
and I look them right in their faces while I do it...

"I'm good, and the kids are great!"
<(tilt head and smile)>
"No, we'll be fine, don't worry about us; we're ok..."

Lies, lies, lies...

Complete fucking lies...

I wonder when I will have the balls to be honest and tell the truth:
That we're NOT ok.
That life at the moment sucks for us.
That each day is a struggle and that no end is in sight.
That my kids wake up screaming.
That I stay awake for days at a time becuase I know I can't protect them if I am asleep.
That we are all not the people we used to be...

But since everyone thinks we're ok they leave us alone.
They don't pry, and that's why I do it.

I am a liar but also a good mother.
I lie to protect us; my kids, myself and our hearts.

There are lies we speak that are prophesies of things to come, only we don't know it yet. But those who believe them bring fulfillment day closer by the positive energy lies oftentimes generate.

Wow!!! What a powerful poem. It leads me to wonder what happened to you and your kids. What is going on in your lives to cause you to lie to others, but tell the truth in your poetry?

I love your playful sarcasm and the straight forward, direct, both barrels from the hip, writing; and your honesty is like a clear chime on the hour.

that touched my heart because we all lie about something in our lives to keep the bizzy bodies at bay and sometimes not because we are ashamed, its because some people love to see others in misery and will use your situation to hurt you so they can feel better about there missed up life

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
