    Poem Commentary

This poem is about my aunt,
who mothered me as best she could.
    Rest in peace, Mom.

    -She was great-

    She was beautiful and fun.
She was honest and a good influence.
    She was great.
She was my Aunt, but more like my mom.
She cared about everyone, me the most.
We had a bond like no other.
Like a cat & her kittens, we were close.
Living states away, being a call away.
She was always there for me.
Always stuck by me and my choices.
Whether she agreed with them or not.
    All-in-all, she was great.
A great person, a great mother.
But most of all, my best friend.
She passed-on, but she's still here.
    In my heart, and spirit.
I can't give her the thanks she earned.
But I'll try until I'm gone, too.
    She was great, and she is great;
and she always will be in my eyes.

Very well written. I feel that we always have that one relative that is in our lives that we connect the most to even more than our parents at times. My relative was my grandmother

This is a real tribute; as much a celebration of your aunt's life as it is a mourning to her passing. What comes through the most is the quiet joy you have in acknowledging everything she meant to you. You were lucky to have each other.

I can see that you really loved your Auntie. she was always there for you. but think of all the good times you had with her and that alone should keep you smiling all day and night

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
