Deadly Tools

As he inhales the cigarette, I pick up the blade. These both can kill us. There a deadly game at play. As he breaths out the smoke. I place it on my skin slicing on away under it. He looks at my wrist seeing the scars. Tells me I have to stop this before it kills my heart. I look at him. I stare for awhile figuring out what to say. I open my mouth. Just wish he knew what I was going to say. What I wish he knew. I say “Baby It’s killing me but smoking killing you .” You say “I have to stop but If I have to so do you”. You trace the scars thinking what to say. Tears fall down my face. You lift my chin. Kissing me once. Pulling me closer to you. Saying “Baby it will be ok.” I whisper “ I love you”.
