    Poem Commentary

It is about time I showed my city some love. Soon I will post another poem that i think in a lot ofways will do it justice. For now, this is what i have to offer.

    Los Angeles

    Los Angeles: 69  Lines

Taco trucks on many corners in LA,
Hot, cold, and windy all in the same day,
    Cloudy rarely and sunny plenty,
My city, the city of Angels where there are many,
Beautiful people from all walks of life,
Whether wealthy or poor and in strife,
Palm trees found in the hood and in the glory places,
Los Angeles, nearly 4 million faces,

With palm trees standing tall like batallions ready for battle,
Earthquakes or not they don't rattle,
No they sawy no matter where they are in the city,
Giving you the belief that you really are by or at the beach, how pretty,

Los Angeles, my city, my home,
The place I call mother and roam,
3rd and Indiana, Boyle heights plateau,
Eating a 3 dollar torta and a coke chateau,
Down to downtown, the heart, the beat of it all,
Jewelry shops full of crystal waterfalls,
    Of jewels and gold,
For the rich, poor, and the old,

Down Wilshire Blvd. through MacArthur park,
Past Vermont, Western, and another historic mark,
The La Brea tar pits, down in park La Brea,
Up to third where the grove and Farmers market exist, a plethora,
Of shops and fun things to do,
The taste and sound there live in me through and through,

The taste of sweet pumpkin ravioli and its smell,
O' I remember it so well,
The stroll into pacific theatres, a luxury place within itself,
You'd think it was full of wealth,

On to the hills of Hollywood, strolling down Sunset,
Sometimes you can see girls in a limo wearing their corsets,
Living the life as if they were superstars,
Only to stop at the little hot dog cars,
and get their bacon dogs, or dirty dogs as we know them,
    Doesn't matter, I love them,

In LA food is life, it speaks more than the luxurious cars a few of us tend to own,
Or the beautiful mansions within Beverly Hills that we do roam,
I haven't forgot the other parts of LA, the hood, the streets of south central,
The pathways of Huntington park that make the insane go mental,
But keep the working man on the grind,
Constantly on the struggle to find,
His or her peace of joy,
To which their hearts can employ,

But I love the taco shops their too,
    They make me say ooooh,
And the taco trucks as well,
Some of the best food not made in heaven or hell,

And who can forget East LA,
The other essence of life, of living,
A place cultured, full of life and briming,
Or the far west from the south bay Redondo beach location,
Which on sunny day makes you feel like you're on a vacation,

To further up to a place called Marina Del Rey,
A boaters dream place to live and play,
And south east to Long Beach,
A lifestyle in of itself to teach,
Ahh and Santa Monica, my final destination,
    A place I don't think without hesitation,

    To visit,
Because it is the beauty of LA,
    It makes Los Angeles shine,
It makes all walks of life want to wine and dine,
If you look hard enough you might find a taco truck there, but if you don't it is still part of LA,
My heart, My city, My mother, My place of stay!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
