Agoraphobia
Bent double, unable to stand
No one around
Tears pour out in force
The pain stabbing like a knife to my core
The hurt engulfs me
Fear grips me
I must lock myself in
Shut the world out
Close all the curtains
Pretend I’m not here
Every knock
Every drip
Every sound
Makes me flinch Is that him?
Is he here to torture me?
What can he want?
He already robbed from me
Stole my joy
Took my freedom
Thieved my innocence
I’m a prisoner in my own home
Too afraid to let my face show
Bouncing off the walls
But too nervous to go out
Too scared of who is out there
I gather all my inner strength
Move closer to the door
Peek out just to make sure
I can do this I was strong once
Don’t let this define you
You have the power inside you
The door opens
Sunlight hits my face
I hear footsteps
Someone is coming
Someone is there
Breath escapes me
Did my lung puncture?
I gasp for air
Panic gripping me tight I bang the door shut
Fall to the floor
The tears pour I have to face it
This could be my life
Stuck inside Pain Fear
Not able to leave here Agoraphobia
