    Decisions, Decisions

    “Should I go or should I stay?”

    Ask myself, “Just where’s the way?”

    “Should I stay or should I go?”

    For neither is the road I know.

    Preacher taps a small black book

    Pleads I take another look

    Tell him, “Someday, I’ll see to it.”

    (I really thought that I would do it.)

    Life’s now growing kinda short

    For this ship to find some port

    Compass rose a moving wheel

    Searching for some certain deal.

    Labor teases, that through pains

    Losses balance out with gains;

    Win the toss but not the game,

    Clear the bar, but get up lame.

    Win at back seat show and tell,

    Climax heaven makes pregnant hell,

    Marriage blows while in-laws suck,

    Consequence of pushing luck.

    Paycheck dines on lobster tail

    Till corporate greed lands in jail;

    Stand accused of trader fraud,

    Plead not guilty up to God.

    Should I now desire to go

    Impediments decide for me, I know,

    Devil chuckles, loved one weeps;

    We didn’t know he plays for keeps.

    Sometimes we forget that the Grace of God is unmerited love and favor. We are getting exactly the opposite of what we deserve. The sin question has been removed for all men. The question to be reconciled is whether we believe in the blood atonement of Christ. The blood of Adam courses through our sinful veins and we shall never attain to sinless perfection in this life, contrary to the preaching of some. I think of the words of the apostle Paul who said, "who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" In the Greek text this is a picture of carrying a rotting corpse on our back. That rotting corpse is our sin nature. Paul then states, O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? and then the answer comes, I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. (Romans ch 7) I will leave you with this verse from Romans chapter 8 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." and I like to add that he even works out the dumb things that we do. The law is bondage and death. Christ paid the penalty for our sin and when we try to add our own efforts into salvation then we make the blood of Christ of no effect. Good behavior is always better then bad but we are saved by His life, not our own. Thank God for that! I always enjoy your poetry Harver. You have a wonderful gift.

    Well said, as far as you took it. but grace is more, it is also enabling power to do right instead of wrong. "For it is God who works in you both to will and to do His good pleasure." Phil 2:13. Those who only want unmerited favor deny the power of God to enable Godliness. We have been explicitly warned agiainst falling for that spiritual error. 2 Tim 3:5 "(some) have a form of Godliness by deny the power thereof, from such turn away." The saints are not merely distinguished by their calling, or even their choosing, by also their character - Rev. 14:12. Just want the whole story to be told. Grace is only neceessary because of the eternal existance of unalterable moral law. Get rid of the law, and there is no need for grace. Besides, if memory serves, Satan's first lie was indicting that God's requirements were unfair. Naughty, naughty.

    My dear friend it is good to be reading you again...your writing speaks of regrets and resented compromise...crack that black book and find your hope....it's there.

    The decisions we make can change our paths so often, but so can others travelling same said path. Sadly sometimes things happen bweyond our control as we fight to remain just and wham another brings your world crashing down - or maybe you just made a plain old stupid mistake? None of us are perfect, we would not want to be made that way with no free will and rather like robots... If mistakes are made in innocence they usually find a way of working out even if they teach us a rough lesson along the way in how not to do something! Great write poet. Keep your pen dancing! Thanks for your welcome comments. Anna-Marie.

    Trapped in the unholy world of deceit and deception and struggling to decide what path to take.

    Poetry is what is lost in translation.
