A Fallen Star, The American Car

A Fallen Star, The American Car

A century ago, was the Model T

A half century ago, was convertibles,

and drive-in movies

Now, a new generation sees cars as

an extension of their plugged-in lives

The ultimate expression of freedom,

A terrestrial comet skimming across

our kingdoms sky

A fuel-gulping beast, a steel behemoth

that symbolizes our industrial decline

There's an emotional connection

When giants fall, we see they too are small

In a larger definition

So when stars fall, are they stars at all,

or superstition?

This year, it has been seen

all across the American dream

Industries,

   economies

     like colliding asteroids’

I heard them say,

“I wish my car came with steroids”

I bet it was great,

back in the day, just to know.

When your car had glory

to get out of the ice and snow

But we, as Americans

can get through this, I do say

Because we have the spirit of

Louis ’Racing” Chevrolet

I stood on slick-top pavement

in a moon-lit nights reward

I smiled from ear to ear, knowing

ole Henry was a “Reliable” Ford

I’ am thankful for the fortunes

that we do have, like hot rods

I’ve heard of the fastback craze

The "Gleam" in the eye of Johnny Dodge

So when I asked, all on earth

When stars fall, are they stars at all?

"Yes", was replied, it is rebirth

New cars are dawning, hear their call

A fitting tribute to the beasts that we both love and hate and can not do without. 10+

Why can't we just all get along on bicycles? Do cars have to have so much power that it wilts a flower? If every one drove a De Tomasa Pantera, would you have to drive one, too? These are questions that are just here. I love the older, rugged, safer, faster, adrenaline pumping, overseas trumping, cars of Americana Glory! Great write, Word! Maybe pick just one icon and write about it,huh?
