The Greatest Story Untold (Trio of Life)

Long ago, through the Desire of Ages

Gaspar, Balthasar, and Melchior-

kept a secret from times’ pages

With no known performed miracles,
  note their faith

The philosophers of the realm did smirch

The clearer transcript of truth

In their dreams they did search-
 the new seed of love

The Jacob Star, the time prophecy of Daniel

The luminous western heavens was all above-

The guiding star appeared in the sky,
 like a fiery circus animal

And led them to the road, breaking down, deep into the valley,

occupying the fruitful summit
 of the Judean Mountains

Celestial phenomena was predicting
 the fountain

The fountain of life of all humanity,
 an expectation world wide

The coming of a great, supernaturally begotten Prophet high

The one who has already invested,
 invested in all of life

As they came to the house of bread,
they heard the babe cry

They looked at each other, and asked, How-

How is your faith now?

They had seen the greatest of Kings

Falling to their knees they gave gifts of things,

frankincense, mirth, and gold

They kept what they have seen to themselves

They departed
 with the Greatest Story Untold

They did not return
to where the envious King dwelt

Now, we have the choice
 of everlasting life to behold

Celestially told, scripturally and graphically perfect. The"Trio Of Life" ,according to Matthew 2, did not accede to Herod's request to report to him ,shoukd they fiind the infant king. TT They hurriedly departed from Bethlehem by a different road. Matthew tells the Nativity story like a Hans Anderson's fairy tale. I like WordSliger's poetic version of this beautiful gift to the world. He narrates the story with appropriate spiritual, moral and reverent interpretation and intonation. I am delighted. Rating for entrancing narrative style .....10++

Even free verse feels more poetic when there is a solitary rhyme to end it all, and linger like a suffuse aftertaste on memory. Great stuff WS, btw there is a classic book on the life of Christ called "Desire of Ages." Ever read it? And no, no names are attributed to the famous magi. That was O. Henry's contribution.
