Defying Gravity
In our quest to defy gravity, To float above it all,In a world that's broken, That we broke,
Listening to our cry's, Seeing with our eyes,
Looking for the common ground we can all stand on,
Yet nothing is common that we can find,
We are hurt, wounded upon wounds that will not heal,
Try as we might, We cannot fly, We can not overcome,
We are held in place by the gravity of the situation,
Gravity that keeps us here, Looking over our shoulder,
Wishing we too could be above it all, Yet we remain,
Defiant to the end we defy that which holds us down...
