    DRAGONFLY DOWNS

     Dragonflies touching lightly on the ground,
    Skimming across the water, Chasing minnows in the shallows,
    While minnows crisscrossing chase reflections on the surface,
    Dandelion, Goldenrod and Mustard ripple in the soft breeze,
    Milkweed covered in Butterflies to our delight,
    Natures fireworks in living splendor, Living color,
    While turtles on logs bask in the morning sun,
    Goldfinches chase clouds of thistle seed floating in the air,
    Swallows swoop and soar in a dizzy ballet at speeds we can't believe,
    Bee's going from flower to flower, All trying to get into the sweetest of blooms,
    High above it all, Floating on currents of air with a birds eye view,
    A Red tail hawk soars between the cottony clouds as they drift above natures garden,
    All the while a field mouse stands in a patch of clover,
    Nose twitching, Sensing danger from above, Waiting for a chance to run,
    Rolling meadows covered in tall grass, A bubbly creek divides the land,
    Calming the land as it wanders through, Talking to all that listen,
    Ending up in a picturesque pond surrounded by willows,
    An old stone wall from long years past sits in ruin as nature takes back,
    Apple trees have gone wild and lily's of the valley, sweet to the smell,
    Cover the land where once man had stood, Gone now, Leaving no memory,
    Dragonflies in all sizes and colors, by the water or in the meadow,
    Racing with the wind just to see who is the fastest ,
    All the sounds form a melody, All we have to do is lay back, Listen and Enjoy.....

    wow, a modern day version of "Wind in the Willows". loved the animated movie. this reminded me of that movie. shows how descriptive you are of writing this poem. its almost dreamlike. Sydney
