Poem Commentary

Actias Luna and Ipomoea Alba in moonlight.

Recital

It grows like ivy
in its spring rite,
drawn to the sky.
Climbing oval dish wide leaves
of emerald green reach mid-tree height.
The delicate tea saucer
innocently pure
white Moon flowers
open only at night.

Fascinated
by the vision and amazed
by what she can see
the polite moon turns its gaze
to her flowers under her orbital light.

The petals incline to liberate
a fragrant nectar to incite,
the smooth
irridescent Luna moth
to invite
from its nocturnal flight.

Gilded by the moon,
ardently and with a tenderness that grows
floats a silver kite,
the Luna moth lights the shadows,
a neon green that soon
reflects and glows
as they unite.

A trio that illuminates
and excites
the ballad they choose to ignite
and allow their perfumed play to recite.

I'm afraid i never heard of this Luna moth...but you paint one hell of a beautiful portrait of it. Great work...

Thanks Gogant, just put Actias Luna in a web search, you will find her there.

I brought this majestic angel inside of our home, I saw her wings with green neon color and I thought it was the best present to give. An amazing angel from God About the poem.... it shows the mystical colors of nature and a magic story about two souls getting together before they died.

It's sad that they last just one week!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
