    "You are my role model"

     Your words resounds in my heart-
    you are my role model-
    yet I wonder
    how I earned this title.
    To know you look up to me-
    to know how you
    overlook my flaws.
    But to me-
    they are still there.
    I wish I could erase them
    so that I could be the person
    that you really look up to.
    How do I prove myself to you-
    you have already given
    me this honor-
    but I do not feel worthy.
    I have tried to
    perfect myself,
    yet I am hiding something
     from you
    for you to think
    of me
    as a role model.
    I am in no way perfect,
    but to you I seem to be-
    in your ways I am
    so I will no longer
    let myself
     think this way about
    my own self.
    I want to see me
    the way you see me.

    Beautifully written. I can relate to doubting someone when they compliment me. I love how thought-provoking it is.
