A Thunk - or Two

Poem Commentary

It is so easy to think what others think, and have thought - But are they correct?

A Thunk - or Two

What is it that we absolutely know?
Don't we get our "knowledge" from books?
[what other's have thought an concluded]
Where did they get their knowledge?
[from other minds on which they expanded?]
Original Thinking is not dead...
It's just waiting to be expressed
       - By You! -

A hundred years ago
Some 'genius' decided
'Nothing more can be discovered,
'we know just about all that can be known!'
We laugh at that today

So don't you believe
You can not have an original thought
We are just beginning to think

The mind has always been
THE NEW FRONTEER!

I think I had a thunk once, I just can't seem to remember when. Drew.

wow, I totally agree with this statement my friend. for we are still in the stages of baby steps in our own humanity and are thinking..It will be eons and eons from now before are thoughts are collected into something that spells our existence as humans on this earth, even if it occurs at all......Personally I do not think that humankind will ever be any kind of expert in our thinking process to fully understand all there is to know.......thanks for these words of contemplation you gave us. just a thought from me love asha

We have been trained from childhood - not to think, but to believe. We are locked into believing what we have been told. Why think? And we will not think until we stop believing, and learn to understand.

Well, my friend - this is why I am concerned about our beliefs. They are others - not ours. We need to T H I N K!

Truer' words, about words, cannot be spoken! This poem belongs in the forum dearest! There is quite the controversy brewing about poetry, and this should be posted! I think it's under casual conversation- Street Poet vs. Academic Poet. I love that I know what little I know about our language arts- but, I do believe that free expression is the foundation of poetry, as well, as strong political voice! I love this thought! -Maddi

Have you noticed that some words have more power when spoken alowed? Cayce said - thoughts are things - so are words. Always enjoy your comments, Maddi.

Invention is only the discovery of what was not before obvious....................Hampton

Yes - obvious to most. Good thought.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
