    Poem Commentary

I begin my second one hundred poems on OP with a change of pace from my last few poems...or so it would seem to me.

Today I will fly on high

on an eagle’s wing in the endless sky

Today I will dance among raindrops

and taste the sweetness of the wind

Today I will burrow beneath the petals of a rose

and inhale the perfume that lies within.

Today I shall count snowflakes in a winter storm

and gather sweet nectar with honey bees

Today I will ride on the sun's golden rays

and nap atop the branches of the giant sequoia

Today I shall walk the ocean depths

and join in the chorus of the whale’s mournful song

Today I will become one with the breath of my love

and journey to the depths of her being

Today I will seek out our maker and ask the question, why?

and plead for sanity in a world gone mad.

All of this I will do this day as tomorrow may be too late

Life is there for only an instant

too short to be left in the hands of fate.

John read this to me while I was feeling sick- with my eyes closed.. and my friend how this took me away to travel with the breeze over the fields of emerald and gold- this is just beautiful, and brings a kiss to the mind, to dream. -Maddi

I hope you are feeling better. We worry about you. Thank you for your kind comments.

Inspiration at its best! What a sweet and gentle song Charlie. A true redemption to the fallen in spirit. Your ability to convey genuine and spirited messages always amazes me. It has been a while since I visited OP and to finally arrive to a message such as this one, makes me realize that an effort from my part to try harder to be amongst true poets is more that necessary :)) The poem was simply well conveyed, the imagery was vivid and the flow was liquid-like! Great write!

That's very sweet of you and we miss you when you're away.

My dearest Hampton, this is the song of the soul The rhythm and flow of this poem is strong and tender, compassionate and have created a delightful prayer for celebrating the gift of each new day. Thank you for sharing your peace and gratitude for life. Beautifully and masterfully done...Peace and tenderness, ~rn~

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
