    Renewal

It began as an eerie mist filling the sky

Moistening the trees and grass as it caressed them

Soundless as it went about its work

Dark clouds providing the canvas for its birth

Soon tiny droplets began to descend

    Falling intermittingly through the mist

Until the mist was no more

The gentle sound of rain could now be heard

Small pools of water gathered hither and yon

Birds began to seek shelter in nearby trees

A far off rumble announced what was to come

The tiny droplets intensified in sound

Rain could now be heard on the tin roof above

Small tears of water streaked the glass windows

The falling rain began its chant

Announcing its arrival through its own private symphony

As the sky opened its grey cloak

Rain poured from above in reckless abandon

The hungry earth absorbed the gift without hesitation

Soon the rain subsided and the clouds parted

The sun broke through and bathed all in its brilliant light

With the sunlight and rain blending into its healing brew

The miracle of renewal for this day was now complete

This is wonderful, such clear images. I love the 4th line!! I love a thunderstorm and this captures how moving nature can be. This reminds me of a piece I wrote years ago... although this one is the better poem. Thanks.

Definitely the renewal is spiritual and reminds me the promise of new beginnings. I am not good with Bible quotes but I know that at Easter (springtime) there is the rebirth of the earth (new beginnings) evidenced by the trees and flowers and a promise of butterflies tomorrow. Wow Mr Gragg you definitely are a fine wordmaster. Thank you.

I admire your dedication as well as your talent for writing! I seem to have problems with this website and my text editor ----- The format doesn't always match the format of which it was intended! It kind of alters the meaning ----- I would like to ask a favor ---Would you mind reading ' Vincent ' and give me your honest opinion? This is one of my favorites and am wondering if the meaning makes any sense?

The air along with my feelings usually feel refreshed after a summer thunderstom. As I tried to convey in my poem Dark Skies. I enjoyed your version as well.

As always your comments are appreciated.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
