    Poem Commentary

    Aggieprof did a piece last year on Buddha's 5 Remembrances. These are thoughts, central to Buddhism which it helps to keep in mind as we slog our way through these mortal lives. This poem is based on those five Buddhist remembrances. Comments are welcome, of course.

    Buddha's Remembrances

     All that lives must always age.
    There is no escape from that.
    Ill health will plague all creatures
    From Elephant to gnat.

    All that breathes must someday stop,
    And go sleep beneath the moss.
    All we love submits to change.
    That change implies some loss.

    The only things we can own
    Are our actions in this life.
    On those we must stand or fall;
    We always pay the price.

    Does breath stop breathing after it leaves our bodies? My feeling is that it's its own entity, own energy, with its own dreams and destination. Does the body really stop breathing after it falls into death's sleep? My feeling is that all of the atoms and molecules have their own breath their own dreams and destinations. Eternity is that which is everything. Bravo to this poetic piece of writing. Peace and Light, dah
