    Another ferry poem. Written enroute to work this morning. Enjoy

    Sirens Wail

     If I had known what life would hold
    I would not choose to come this way
    The barren hills and rocky trails,
    The lonely nights and hollow days.

    If I could just turn back the clock
    And cheat the fickle hand of fate,
    Erase the writing on the wall,
    The ravages of time abate.

    If I had seen you standing there
    Beneath the silver moon's soft light,
    Caressed your cheek and kissed your lips
    And held you in that fragrant night,

    Perhaps I might have found the strength
    To mute the siren's plaintive wails,
    Avoid the rocky shoals of doom,
    Avert the pain my choice entails.

    Loved the rhythm and the rhyme. It really had a double meaning that I enjoyed immensly also. Write on.........................Tlady

    Thanks Tempest. I'm glad you liked it. All my work uses strict rhythm and rhyme structures. If you like love poems try "Red Moon", "If I Could Love", "Tiger in a Cage" and "The Shadows in Your Eyes". There are more in there, but those are some of my favorites... Too many people have given up on the old way of writing poetry. There's plenty of life left in that old horse yet!
