Imagine
Imagine how the world would be
If there was only harmony,
If there was peace instead of war,
And only love was at our core.
If children ate and found their need
Not trumped by other people's greed,
Not trampled by the price of bombs,
Nor lost in politician's qualms,
If we, the world, could understand
John Lennon's brotherhood of man.
Yet on the bloody sidewalk there
Is found not dreams, but just despair,
Is lost not only love but hope,
Where dreams, I fear, are out of scope.
Or are they? Where there breathes a soul
That he has touched, the endless toll
Of love and hope will not abate.
We dream, and through our dreams, create.
