If God Had Not
If God had not intended us to fly,Why, then, would he teach us how to dream?
Why, then would our hopes forever soar?
Why make our pounding hearts forever sing?
If God did not intend for us to love,
Why create this burning in our soul?
Why the driving instincts of our heart?
Why bestow this yearning to be whole?
If God had no desire for us to know,
Why this unquenched need to understand?
Why the urge to always see behind
The mysteries created by his hand?
If God had not expected us to build,
Why bestow man's overarching trait?
The very heart of godliness, it seems,
Is mirrored in our passion to create.
