    Poem Commentary

    Just a little ditty I came up with while riding the ferry to work this morning. Fortunately we didn't run into any pirates....

    Pirates

    When he's not busy boarding ships

    What does a pirate do,

    When summer's heavy on the air

    And skies are fair and blue?

     

    He pulls the wings off butterflies

    And thinks it such a prank

    To put them on an ice cream stick

    And make them walk the plank!

     

    And what's a terrorist to do

    When given a day off?

    No bombs to build nor planes to jack,

    No infidels to scoff?

     

    Does he wear those speedo trunks

    And tool around resorts?

    Is co-ed girls beach volleyball

    Among his favorite sports?

     

    And what about a lobbyist

    With congress in recess?

    What does he do to pass the time,

    How does he ease his stress?

     

    Convincing boys to place the tacks

    Upon the teacher's chair,

    Or put the double bubble gum

    In Susie Parker's hair?

    i so love the humor in this poem, now my favorite part is the congress mani am still trying to see why 12 days in office gives you a month in Mexico on vacation . Great poem thanks for the read Marie

    [laugh] Bravo Bac Glen, you have done it again! I was going to comment on the ninth line, but I think it is an anapest. I kept thinking "And what's a terroist got to do" [or it could be have to do] though because the eleventh line is "No bombs to build nor planes to take" and that is iambic tetrameter. Recently I have set three of my quatrains into music that I wrote... I was thinking about the Vietnamese Romantics that's probably why.
