Wonderment
What a cause of wonderment is man
Who's spirit seems invincible and true,
Who mapped the stars, deciphered heaven's plan,
The mysteries of magic overthrew,
Who split the atom, walked upon the moon,
And learned the secrets that immortals knew,
Who built vast cities out of marble hewn,
Machines that could both think and reason and
Established science no one could impugn.
But all of this was built upon the sand.
Because of greed which in his heart befell
Despoiling Earth and leaving empty land.
Oblivion does not befit us well,
Yet if we make it only time will tell.
