The Shadows in Your Eyes
I know you could have gone with himYet chose instead to stay.
Because the kids adore you
You couldn't run away.
He would have eased your discontent
In Naples in the rain,
In Paris on a summer's eve
Boating on the Seine,
At the opera in Vienna,
Or a cafe' on the Strand.
Yet I had naught to offer
But these scarred and calloused hands
And a heart that's always loved you.
So how could I despise
The lies that linger on your lips,
The shadows in your eyes?
