The Earth Was Far Too Fragile
The Earth was far too fragile after all,
Too delicate to stand up in the end.
While men, consumed in greed, ignored its fall
It tumbled, taking with it great and small,
Until it was too late to make amends.
The Earth was far too fragile after all.
Thus all was lost beneath that dreadful pall,
All love, all pride, all words that poets penned.
While men, consumed in greed, ignored its fall,
All beauty on that crystal spinning ball,
Was falling, falling, never to transcend.
The Earth was far too fragile after all.
Some say, if we but listened to its call,
There may have been a way to break the trend.
While men, consumed in greed, ignored its fall,
They stood aside in avarice and gall,
Their pride would not allow them to attend;
The Earth was far too fragile after all,
While men, consumed in greed, ignored its fall.
