    Poem Commentary

    It is a time of change. The kids are in college now and I don't get to see them very much. I'm retired now and reorganizing my life for the next stage. There's a sort of melancholy in the air. This is a first draft, pretty bland, but it might be a good framework if I can find the right decorations for it. This one's for my kids....

    I'll Be There

    Wherever your road leads you to
    Whatever is in store
    No matter if its far away
    Or only just next door

    Remember I'll be there for you
    Whatever fate time brings
    I'll lift you up and carry you
    Like silver feathered wings

    And when life seems to weigh on you
    Like its too much to bear
    Remember standing next to you
    I will still be there

    I'll be there when you're on the top
    And when you're down and out
    I'll be there when you're confident
    And when you're filled with doubt

    I only want the best for you
    A joyous sunny road
    But know that in the sun or storm
    I'm there to share the load

    I like it. Especially cause I identify with the feeling in it. My husband and I are also about to start at that stage. Our oldest is already gone to living in another town. Our middle child is in Notre dame on his sophomore year on a full paid scholarship. Our princess is 17 graduating this year & planning also on getting a scholarship, grants or loans to leave the nest. This coming year it will be just me & him as we started. I also tell my kids this you just wrote. No matter what we will always be there. Its a beautiful sentiment. Thanks for sharing it.

    Thanks, Missyay. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wrote it for my foster kids who are all in college now and getting ready to strike out on their own.
