Spacers
Let's blast away my spacer mates,Unfettered let us be
By sentimental ties to Earth,
To family or place of birth,
To love, or hate, or grief, or mirth,
Or bonds of gravity.
Strap yourselves in blastoff seats,
There is no time to wait.
Beneath the Universal dome,
Across that starry sea we'll roam,
The galaxy will be our home,
The future be our fate!
We'll jump across both time and space,
We'll run at speed of light.
And while we make our starward climb,
The universe will reel in time,
We'll brush the face of God, sublime,
In interstellar flight.
And if we ever do come back,
On some immortal day,
Nothing that we've left could last,
We'd be but relics from the past,
Lost in time and space so vast
We'd never find our way.
So blast away my spacer mates,
Like dandelions blown,
Beyond the realm of Earth and Mars,
Across the endless sea of stars,
We'll leave behind our human scars,
And seek the great unknown.
